Intersection Between Mental & Physical Health

Decades worth of research supports the significant, bi-directional relationship between mental and physical health. How we take care of our bodies strongly impacts our mental health and well-being. Likewise, mental health issues such as anxiety and depression can contribute to an array of physical and/or medical conditions or interfere with self-care.

Exercise, proper nutrition, and adequate sleep are critical for managing our emotions and moods and for functioning optimally day-to-day. Indeed, exercise has been shown to be a powerful anti-depressant, improving mood in both the short and long-term and building confidence and self-esteem. Additionally, physical activity and healthy eating are crucial in preventing and addressing various health conditions.

As a long-time runner and fitness enthusiast, I know firsthand the myriad physical and psychological benefits of an active lifestyle and the importance of taking care of our minds and bodies. I frequently work with individuals looking to make lifestyle changes and am passionate about helping clients improve their overall health and feel more confident and vibrant through healthy habits and routines. Additionally, I work with clients coping with physical or medical issues that impact upon their mental health.

Recognizing that factors such as regular movement, sleep, nutrition, substance use, self-care, and social support greatly impact our well-being and quality of life, I believe strongly in taking a holistic approach to treating mental health concerns.

I offer individualized plans for clients looking to take more control over their mental and physical health and will collaborate with you to define and achieve your health and wellness goals.
